well this is my favourite poem that keeps me going...Simple Faith" [CSimple Faith"

We can never be absolute--
because each daybreak
is merely an experiment
in affirming...life itself;
each anticipated moment
is only maybe by its very nature;
and though caught in the quiet
skies of nightfall...
each rising star becomes
a promise of faith and hope.

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Hi Meetlife,
Its been a while since I heard from you.....amazingly enough its a strange coincidence that all of us dentists share this poetic bit too...perhaps its the creativity aspect of it of appreciating anything beautiful.Well this poem is my all time favorite & certainly has moved mountains for me.Read on....

Max Ehrmann

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

Max Ehrmann, Desiderata.

I really hpoe you like it as much as I do.This is to everybody else too sharing the spirit to keep the motivation going....

To Believe...?
Author Unknown

To believe is to know that every day
is a new beginning.
It is to trust that miracles happen,
and dreams really do come true.
To believe is to see angels dancing among the clouds,
To know the wonder of a stardust sky
and the wisdom of the man in the moon.
To believe is to know the value of a nurturing heart,
The innocence of a child's eyes
and the beauty of an aging hand,
for it is through their teachings we learn to love.
To believe is to find the strength
and courage that lies within us.
When it is time to pick up the pieces and begin again.
To believe is to know we are not alone,
That life is a gift and this is our time to cherish it.
To believe is to know that wonderful surprises
are just waiting to happen,
And all our hopes and dreams are within reach.
If only we believe.

Hello all,
I like these two and want to share with you all

The person who makes a success of living is the one who see his goal steadily and aims for it unswervingly. That is dedication.
Cecil B. DeMille (1881 - 1959)

My mother drew a distinction between achievement and success. She said that 'achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done the best that is in you. Success is being praised by others, and that's nice, too, but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget about success.'
Helen Hayes (1900 - 1993)

Good thread boggu,
Some time ago i too used to believe in one poem for motivation and looks like i'm going to need it again . It goes like this.

If u think u are beaten
YOU ARE
If u think u dare not
YOU DON'T
If u'd like to win but u think u Can't
Its almost a cinch YOU WON'T
If u think u'll lose
YOU'RE LOST
For out in the world we find

SUCCESS BEGINS WITH A FELLOWS WILL
ITS ALL IN A STATE OF MIND
LIFE'S BATTLES DON'T ALWAYS GO TO THE FASTER OR STRONGER MAN
BUT SOONER OR LATER
THE MAN WHO WINS IS THE ONE WHO THINKS HE CAN

A NEW DAY

This is the beginning of a new day. I have been given this day to use as I will.

I can waste it, or use it. I can make it a day long to be remembered for its joy, its beauty and its achievements, or it can be filled with pettiness. What I do today is important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it.

When tomorrow comes this day will be gone forever, but I shall hold something which I have traded for it.

It may be no more than a memory, but if it is a worthy one I shall not regret the price.

I want it to be gain not loss, good not evil, success not failure.

hi guys..this is my fav.....i hope u like this....
BY CHANGING YOUR THINKING

By Changing Your Thinking, You change your beliefs;

When you change your beliefs, You change your expectations;

When you change your expectations, You change your attitude;

When you change your attitude, You change your behavior;

When you change your behavior, You change your performance;

When you change your performance; You Change Your Life!

IT WILL COME

When life's largest pressures leave you struck dumb, Just search for an answer; the solution will come.

When a tragedy occurs leaving you feeling numb, Just wait for your health; the strength will come.

When everyone relies on you and there is no way you can see, Trust your mind to think with time; patience is the key.

When you have made it where others always flee, Just wait to gather courage; soon you'll be where you want to be.

When it is nearing the end and you're in need, Muster up your courage; endurance will lead. IT WILL COME.

hi .....
This Too Shall Pass

If I can endure for this minute
Whatever is happening to me,
No matter how heavy my heart is
Or how dark the moment may be-

If I can remain calm and quiet
With all the world crashing about me,
Secure in the knowledge God loves me
When everyone else seems to doubt me-

If I can but keep on believing
What I know in my heart to be true,
That darkness will fade with the morning
And that this will pass away, too-

Then nothing in life can defeat me
For as long as this knowledge remains
I can suffer whatever is happening
For I know God will break all of the chains

That are binding me tight in the darkness
And trying to fill me with fear-
For there is no night without dawning
And I know that my morning is near.

Hold Fast To Dreams

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow

hello people

this is a very cute thread,.. thanks to whoever started it.
good job ...all those who r posting. I think the finest gift you can give anyone is encouragement.

here is a contribution from my side:

If people offer their help or wisdom as you go through life, accept it gratefully. You can learn much from those who have gone before you.
But never be afraid or hesitant to step off the accepted path and head off in your own direction, if your heart tells you that it's the right way for you.

Always believe that you will ultimately succeed at whatever you do, and never forget the value of persistence, discipline, and determination.

You are meant to be whatever you dream of becoming.

Everything is okay in the end. And if it's not okay, then it's not the end.

Hi,
Sam: That was real fire man......both ends:).

Nolls: Sure enough we all need that encouragement &
certainly life is making making lemonade with the limes that we stumble upon on our path....

"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off"

Don't go through life, GROW through life.
Eric Butterworth

People are just about as happy as they make up their minds to be.
Abraham Lincoln

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.
Eleanor Roosevelt

Shoot for the moon.
Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

watched a small man with thick calluses on both hands work fifteen and sixteen hours a day. I saw him once literally bleed from the bottoms of his feet, a man who came here uneducated, alone, unable to speak the language, who taught me all I needed to know about faith and hard work by the simple eloquence of his example.

hi sir.....well the thread is still alive and burning...

Beyond all talent lie all the usual words: discipline, love, luck - but, most of all, endurance.

Faith
Faith - a strong inward certainty
and trust in things we cannot see;
believing with grace and wisdom untold
that great things are waiting to be.

Joan Adams Burchell

On Board
An anchor helps us stay on course as we sail the sea of life;
We may battle gales in the crossing as we journey through the strife.
With faith we find a harbour and a beacon shows the way
To stay aloft, secure and safe, because we stopped to pray.

Hey everyone..

Since the motivation seems to be taking a romantic turn, thanks to our two resident love birds :laugh: I thought I'd bring everyone on track with an Adidas ad campaign I saw in a mall... I amused everyone by standing outside the store writing it down... but the shop guy wasn't amused when I walked away without buying anything.. :p

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it.
Impossible is not a fact. Its an opinion.
Impossible is not a declaration. It is a dare.
Impossible is potential.
Impossible is temporary.
Impossible is nothing.
