Are they just more honest than the other school's that give you a sympathy spot at the bottom of the waitlist or did I have a booger hanging from my nose during those seemingly good interviews?

Someone please tell me I'm not the only one so I can get out of this funk.

I didn't get in either, but I didn't interview. Dartmouth adcoms are pretty open, I'd suggest emailing or calling. I bet if there was something they were looking for, they'll tell you. If you reapply, they'll sit down with you and you can make sure they know you're intending to go there. If you get in somewhere else, then it's really not that bad to be rejected from Dartmouth. Either way, good luck.
