Its my first choice, and i got waitlisted. I sent letter of intent just before they sent me the waitlist letter. what shall i do???? I really want to go there! 😕

If you already sent a letter of intent, I would just wait and hope that some people choose not to go there. Did they tell you how high up on the waitlist you were?

I got waitlisted, too. I remember they were saying there is no ranking on the waiting list. When someone chose not to go there, they'll look at the waitlisted pool to see who has "characteristics" similar to the one who dropped to keep the "diversity" of the class.

I really like the school, too. But I suspect there will be quiet a movement on the waitlist because I'm sure many accepted applicants would prefer to go somewhere else  .

Hey guys...I'm just curious. When did you interview for Dartmouth? It's also my first choice. I wrote a LOI, and thank you cards. Interviewed 1/26, and still waiting to hear. Please let me know. Thanks! 😱

i interviewed 12/15. and i know the waitlist is not ranked. but considering i'm international....... i know i'm down the line.... sad. 🙁

I interviewed on the same day but already get the waitlist letter. I think that means you're a better candidate then me already 😡

I interviewed at Dartmouth on 11/2 (MD/PhD) and 11/3 (MD) and got my acceptance to the MD/PhD program ~12/21. So, it took a little bit more than a month and half. Then again, I'm MD/PhD so it's a little different, I guess.

Sorry to hear you got waitlisted. This entire process is really getting to me. So far I've been waitlisted at 3/6 schools I interviewed at. 😕 Thanks for the reply.

is there a possibility to get another interview or something? when is DMS revisit? anybody know? i called the adcom and was told to wait.... wait... its been really long! anybody waitlisted and wanting to push for it?

The Dartmouth revisit is 5/5-5/6. Don't despair! I hear DMS has good waitlist movement... and I can almost guarantee that my spot will be opening up in the near future. Also, Dean Welch strikes me as a very approachable guy, so if your heart is set on DMS I would definitely let him know. Good luck!

I just was waitlisted today. I interviewed 2/23. It is also my first choice.
So how much do you think a letter of intent would help?

Not trying to be mean, but last year their waitlist barely moved. But it could have been just a freak year 😉 and this one will be better. GL!!! :luck:

PS I don't think a LOI would hurt, but that's just me

I sent a letter of intent right around when i got waitlisted. i sent the letter about 2-3 days before i got waitlisted. so i'm not sure if they recieved my LOI before or after.. I was just desperate on getting in.. but i'd probably send one.. i don't think it will hurt you. fingers crossed! :luck:

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you know I withdrew from Dartmouth today. I think I remember Dean Welch saying they don't over-accept by much at all because they really want to keep the class size small, so hopefully that means there will be some waitlist movement for you guys. Good luck!

Quick question, did you get a call from Dartmouth when you got accepted? Or did you find out through snail mail? I interviewed back in early Feb and still haven't heard anything....and am DYING with anticipation...I would LOVE to go to school here and this waiting game is killing me. Thanks for any info 🙂

Snail mail only -- it was a regular business-sized envelope but very thick. Hope that helps. Good luck!

I got a letter saying that no decision has been made on my application, is this a waitlist, or does it specifically say "waitlist" in the letter? just wondering...

I applied to the Dartmouth-Brown program and haven't heard anything - anyone else apply to that program?

when did you interview? I interviewed on 02/09/06, indicated that I like dartmouth-brown, and haven't heard anything yet either. it's the last school i'm waiting on, except for the waitlists, of course.

Hey, that's the same day that I interviewed! It's the last school I'm waiting on, too (other than an oddly late interview at UCLA in the end of April). I assume that it will take a bit longer because we have two admissions committees that have to review us, rather than two, but I'm getting anxious.

not a very well kept secret that at DMS a LOI is almost a prerequisite to get off the wailist; good luck you'll love it there :meanie:

Word is that Dartmouth's unranked waitlist is like being an understudy for a high school play. They try to replace applicants that withdraw with similar people. Once Mercutio goes down, they replace him with another Mercutio. If you're Romeo or Tybalt, sucks to be you.

I'm waitlisted as well, and wrote a LOI.

I wanted some advice here.. i sent a LOI 2,3 days before i got my waitlist letter, and was wondering if they got my LOI before or after they sent me the waitlist.. I'm debating if I should sent another LOI? what do you guys think?

I applied to Dartmouth-Brown and heard back about 2 weeks ago (I interviewed Jan 17). I think they take a long time to let people know sometimes. And for Dartmouth-Brown, it needs to be reviewed by both schools so it could take longer. Good luck.

yeah, it wouldn't hurt to send another LOI to reinforce your love for D., esp if you have stuff to update them with

AGH! Waitlisted! By LOI do you mean a letter of interest or intent? Does it even matter?

I sent a Letter of Intent. when did you hear about your waitlist? are you going to push for DMS? or decided to go elsewhere..?

Well I found the letter in my mail AFTER coming back from spring break, but the letter was dated March 24th. I left for home the 24th and had checked the mail that day so it had to have come sometime later in the week given it was mailed to Nor Cal.

I'll be pushing for the school but right now its a close call between DMS and Boston University (which I'm also waitlisted for!!! AGH!).

Another person mentioned that he/she heard about 9 weeks after mid-Jan interview. No word for me, but I guess I'll probably have to wait another 2 weeks. uggh, what a pain...

There were a lot of people there that day, but I was a guy from new york who did a post-bacc so older.

Hey Run T, i'm in the SAME boat and totally feel ya. I still have to write to both schools this week 😉

I THINK I had an interview with you guys on that day. Same week at least. There was a Californian who went to Bolivia for Peace Corps. Two people who went to Middlebury. There was a Canadian too.

I found out about 1 to 1.5 weeks ago that I'd been accepted - and I interviewed back on Jan 4 or 5th. So, it seems that it can just take a long time to hear back. Best of luck. Oh, and it came by snail mail in a standard envelope (it was a little thicker than normal)

That sounds right. The day was pretty scattered after we left the admissions office, but still very nice. The hospital was so beautiful. I sound like an idiot.

Still no word from the big D. From the sound of the previous poster, it still could take a while. But I imagine they want to get this stuff wrapped up.

Man, I interviewd back in Nov, and just heard...Waitlisted 🙁 They sure are taking their time...

soo.. when are we getting the waitlist postcard?? or did anybody get it? when's the first movement in waitlist?

Damn good question. Damn near forgot that they were sending that...

I interviewed in early Feb and still no word! This is ridiculous. I wonder if schools realize how much difference it makes in terms of claiming real estate in applicants' imagination when they interview and assess in a timely fashion. That said, if it's a postcard for the waitlist, that's really annoying. i have very little faith in the new york postal service's ability to get something small like a postcard delivered.

Anybody know who the dean of admissions is? I am at work and don't have my waitlist letter on me, and can't find it on the DMS website...

The director of admissions (which I think is their term for dean of admissions) is Andrew Welch.

Thanks very much. Has anybody gotten in off the waitlist yet...probably too soon, but just curious.
