Does anyone know where we can find data on GPA and stats of matriculants, or find out how many people a given school accepts? I'm trying to get a better picture of figuring out the selectivity of particular schools than what the MSAR gives.

Afraid not; the USNews book (go dig it up in B&N or Borders or something?) and the MSAR are pretty much the data *****'s (read: my) bible.

It's not school-specific as far as grades and such go, but the AAMC does maintain the FACTS database for overall statistics, if you haven't seen that yet.

the new MSAR data was typed up by someone a few days ago in this thread....

have a look. it's an attachment posted by "Data *****"

Nice job but that data refers to accepted applicants. The schools' websites give the stats for matriculants. There is a huge difference at some schools (all the schools accept the superstars but some schools are more successful at getting those superstars to matriculate).

Hey LizzyM...thank you so much for that piece of info. So really...that data refers to "accepted" rather than "matriculated" data right??? (I want to make sure, and not get my hopes up..:()

A few days back when I saw that data I freaked out over how ridiculously competitive this process has become!! I thought that was the matriculant data at those schools..., but the fact that that's the "accepted-student" data gives me a little relief...

I wonder, too, if the average number of schools applied to is on the rise, maybe explaining more applicants holding multiple acceptances, thus driving up the "accepted" stats at some schools? In other words, stats "superstars" are holding on to more acceptances than in the past, thus driving up the accepted stats at a big chunk of schools...this might also bode well for those hoping for more waitlist activity at even the top schools as top applicants choose from among 5 to 10 acceptances...

A few years, the average was around 13 or 14 schools, I think - does the MSAR indicate what the average number of schools applied to is now?
