Hey everyone...my MCAT score dropped from a 27 (8PS 9VR 10BS) to a 26 (7PS 8VR 11BS). How do adcoms view this? I'm contemplating taking it a third time. Anyone ever take the MCAT 3 times, or thinking about it? Anyone ever accepted with a drop in their MCAT score the 2nd time they took it? I need some inspiration stories (either applying w/ those scores, or retaking it again). Thanks! Please post.

I'm sorry to hear that. I wouldn't rewrite it again unless you're positive you will be able to raise the score. I think a 26/27 will give you a good chance at DO schools though.

i know someone who got in with these scores

1st time: 31R

2nd time: 22Q

The adcom understood that the person had something wrong that happened to the person on the second time

I don't understand why you wouldn't void if you thought you were going to do significantly worse? I can't imagine that they thought they were going to do better, than winded up being blindsided by a 9 point drop in their scores?

Marginally different section scores with a 1 point overall drop is not going to look any different to most adcoms. If anything, it will reinforce the score you achieved the first time.

Yea that was me-
It went like this
August 2003 - 22P
April 2006 - 26O
August 2006 - 31Q

In my case, I took the first while in college... then I graduated traveled and got some life experience (working is not nearly as glamorous as I thought it would be).
So I got serious in 2006 took Princeton and improved,
But I still knew that I could break that elusive 30 mark... and I did!

So my advice is go for it if you know you can do better. You could have had two exceptionally difficult tests that were heavy on the O-chem or a couple killer physics passages that could have thrown the tests off.

By the way, I just got accepted to Western U D.O. school my top choice being from So.Cal... so I am totally stoaked!
Good Luck
