I've been holding an acceptance at one school since March, and I just got another acceptance off a waitlist (although I was only on the waitlist for like a day), and I have to decide by May 24 where I want to go. I've been considering deferring for a year, and there's a good chance that I will do it. So my question is this--can I defer a waitlist acceptance? Or do they expect you to decline if you don't want to start this fall?

I could really use some info/advice from someone who knows about the process.

an acceptance is an acceptance. it shouldnt make a difference if it was wl or not. you shoudl be able to defer, no problem.

Hey exmike, thanks for the reply.

So then I can call them up and explain my situation and find out what their policy is before I officially accept?

yeah, or you can accept then defer. It usually says on the website their policy.
