Deferring acceptance for 1 year

Hey all,
I was accepted this year at pitt med and have decided that is where i want to be for med school. However I wanted to defer my acceptence, but don't know if it is a good idea.
what is some advice/comments/personal stories from doing this. Also, what are some acceptable reasons for deferring a year. Thanks

From what I've heard, each school allows deferrals for different reasons. Most are pretty restrictive though, you'd need a good one.
