Delay in this year's application process - opinions

This has probably been brought up before, but what are your opinions about this year's application process...mainly, do you think it has hurt the average applicant's chances of getting in or not.

I am not sure how it could have hurt chances of getting in. There are the same number of spots as there were last year and schools will issue the same number of acceptances. It has made the process frustrating and it might take longer to fill all the classes but otherwise I think the chances are about the same as other years. Total applications are probably down from last year (we can only speculate as to the cause) so the "chance" of getting in might be a bit better than last year and definitely much better than the mid 1990's when there were 40 percent more people applying.
