THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS FROM THE NBME REGARDING A DELAY IN USMLE STEP 1 SCORE
REPORTING

----------
Normal score reporting for Step 1 usually occurs in 3-4 weeks. However, because
of necessary modifications to the test item pool as well as the processing load
caused by a heavy volume of test takers, there will be a delay in score
reporting for most Step 1 examinations administered in late May and June. The
target date for reporting Step 1 scores for most examinees testing from May 27
through late June will be Wednesday, July 16, 2003. It is possible that scores
may be available earlier and I will notify you of this in advance. Thank you.

My school forwarded this e-mail too. What I don't understand is why they couldn't have done their "modifications" ahead of time, like months ago, so it wouldn't interfere with the busy summer testing load. Using the volume of students as an excuse doesn't fly because it happens every year.

What about people that took the exam on 27th of March and haven't seen their score yet?? You guys are lucky, at least they informed you about the delay. I ve sent them 2 e-mails, of which one was answered after 4 days, and the other hasn't been answered for more than a week. And i'm not sure that so many people were taking the exam at the end of March!!!

Do you know if others who took the test at the same time have gotten the scores yet? If they are being so uncooperative, maybe your school's administration can help put some weight behind your complaints. NBME specifically said in their e-mail that the delay was for students in the summer months.

i'm with you guys... if i had to wait that long for my score, i think id go nutts. youd think, with the $450 or so that you paid for takin the test, theyd at least be efficent and ontime with their reporting.
