Hi all,

I was offered a position being the collaborative/delegating physician for a group of NPs running their own outpatient practice. I was wondering: what are the going rates for that sort of thing?

Thanks in advance.

If you are supervising it’s not “their” clinic from a liability standpoint

Will try not to steer too far off topic, but I would not feel comfortable supervising too many NPs. You can only keep track of so many patients and it is a massive responsibility and I'd be too anxious about the level of liability.

This is an incredibly dangerous situation in my state where the physician is liable for all mistakes. A friend lost his license over ineffective supervision over what a NP prescribed.

Each NP needs weekly education, hourly access to you if needed, weekly chart reviews, etc. It is very time consuming. I wouldn’t do it for under $5k/month/NP to cover my time and added liability.

I'm in California and a pair of NPs offered me around $2000/mo to play this role, sit back and on paper act as their supervising MD. Of course I turned it down.
