Hi everyone!

I'm a pre-dent who is in the process of applying to dental schools.

I have tooth wear from bruxism and currently wear an over-the-counter nightguard (the boil and bite type). Deeply uncomfortable but it gets the job done. My budget in this period of my life (especially with dental school applications) isn't enough to afford the custom kind from my dentist.

Just wondering, are there any opportunities to get oral appliances (e.g. nightguards) at a deep discount while a dental student? I know that cleanings and fillings can be done by fellow students in many schools, but what about oral appliances? I realize it might vary from school-to-school but I appreciate all input.

Yes. Depends on the school but may end up just paying the lab bill. Or maybe you can talk an upperclassman into making one for you.
