The free medical clinic I volunteer at is always busy when I come, and I felt useful sitting around. So I ended up working with a dentist in the dental unit. I clean the unit, set up patients' chairs/napkins/Xray aprons, and assist with procedures. I have had a lot of interesting patient conversations, several of our patients are recovering addicts with severe dental issues. I don't know if this counts as clinical volunteering or volunteering? Either way is fine because I have clinical employment, but I just didn't know what I should say about it.

You are in close proximity to "patients" so it meets my definition of "clinical experience". You are a volunteer so it is volunteering. You could call it non-clinical volunteering but that would seem absurd given that the help you are providing is directed at patients in a free medical clinic.
