Yes, it's harder, don't get me wrong but it happens. Had a friend with a 3.3 cumulative, 3.4 science, 19 DAT (twice), and he got into Texas A&M on his first try, and btw he is far from a college athlete, or any sort of athlete for that matter. Thanks! Do people get accepted with those stats?
Ugh, the English courses are rough lolI never understand how people have a science GPA higher than their overall GPA. All the people in my school that I know is the other way around.
Anyways, I am sure you could probably get accepted with those stats from 1 of the 22 you applied.
3.87o vs 3.96s because man I did not care about getting B's in GE courses lol.I never understand how people have a science GPA higher than their overall GPA. All the people in my school that I know is the other way around.

OP- I think you have an excellent shot in-state, since ECU only accepts them. Otherwise, your chances are great for everywhere else!

Hey guys,
Some background: Student athlete (Olympic trials finalist) - Major sports accolades - Represented the US in international competition - graduated in 2015. I worked in finance for a year and decided to peruse dentistry last year. I have about 400 volunteer hours half dental half non. 500+ hours dental assisting. 275 hours shadowing. I applied to 22 schools basically all the private (LECOM, Tourro, AT Still Missouri) to name a few and in state (I'm in NC). I just wanted to hear everyone's opinion. I took the DAT last week. I am almost done with all my supplementals (4 left). I submitted everything in June before my DAT.
I know it is not a competitive score by all means. I have no score under 18 (orgo was 20). I know everyone posts threads about chances but here it goes. Thanks ya'll.
Haha no I did mean great, because your EC's really do help you stand out, and private schoolsl love your money lol. Best of luck!Did you mean to say "great for everywhere else"? haha or not great?
What is the deal with UNLV? I know I am a little off with the scores but I know they have some weird way of formulating interviews. It is not exactly clear what the formula is from the other threads. Anyone care to chime in? Thanks y'all!
Just interviewed at UNLV yesterday and Dr. Ancajas wanted us to post the correct formula to predict if your getting in or not. It is made up of two parts, part on is your DAT scores and GPA:
PART 1
((CUM GPA + SCI GPA)/8)x(RC/30)x((BIO+QR+OCHEM)/90)x75=A
PART 2
This is your interview performance: Student and faculty interview you and give you a 1-5 with 5 being the best applicant possible.
((Student interview)/5) x (Faculty interview/5) x 25 = B
A+B = 100 max
Those that have a 50-55 are competitive and those with a 55+ are pretty much in...
I have similar stats to you in every area and I have been a dental assistant for 2 years. 1 interview in 3 years so far.
I applied to 25 with 3.4 OGPA and 3.3 SGPA but with a 19AA 20TS 20 PAT. So far one interview. Hopefully more will come!
Awesome man! Hopefully my EC's will stick out. May I ask what were your EC's?
While in college I was in 2 honor societies and Phi Delta Theta fraternity. I worked as a life guard and swim instructor and specialized teaching people with mental and physical disabilities how to swim. I studied abroad in Australia, I restore cars as a hobby, and I'm currently doing breast cancer and pancreatic cancer research. I'm expected to be published in 2 papers!
Nice man! I am sure you will do just fine!! Any dental work experience?
Haha wow there you go! Try to jack up some more hours doing general dentistry shadowing and see if you can volunteer at one of the practices assisting. I cold called like 10 offices and got 6 different general dentists in all different areas (geographic location matters rural vs urban). That is what I did and I know a lot of schools like to see that! I will tell you how I do in the next month. My official scores will hit all my schools next week.
Did you apply to 24 schools as well?
I will! Thanks for the advice and I wish you the best of luck this cycle!
Between 16 and 20 each year.

Congrats! I haven't had any yet lololol. Yes, you will probably get a couple post-Dec interviews at those other schools you applied to. I think maybe you might fall under like "2nd choice" so right now they're busy trying to get everyone they'd call their "1st choice" in so that they can extend offers of acceptance to them by Dec 1st, and thus you'll probably interview at those schools in Jan/Feb but DON'T LOSE HOPE! Anything can honestly happen!Had 3 pre-December interviews thus far (2 instate) (1 out of state not private school). Is it true that someone with my stats will get post December private school interviews?

Sorry should've clarified, I do have two scheduled for this month! But I haven't actually had any thus far! And I know it's because I applied super superrrrr late (end of August-mid September) so I'm okay with having post-Dec interviews lol. And yes, but don't lose hope. Your EC's are fabulous, they'll help tons! So just keep waiting patiently for those post-Dec interviews and acceptances to roll inThanks! You have not received an interview yet?? Your stats are amazing..Yeah I figured they are trying to garnish the top dawgs before me haha.

Well no one really knows how adcoms work, except for themselves sooo who knows. At least you'll get in-state tuition for two of them and could apply for in-state at the other one hopefully! Generally you should pick a public one over a private one cause they give you the same degree lol and the public one would be cheaper. But that's a discussion for after Dec 1stDamn you'll be fine!! I submitted my DAT scores like the first week of September. I am grateful for my 3 interviews. Have to be honest though I am surprised they were all public schools and not the private ones (since private ones seem to have lower stats historically)...

Cali! And there's still time for Pre-Dec interviews to come (for a few schools). All the better that you have 3 public school interviews under your beltAgreed! What is your state residency? I just found it interesting that I did not get a single interview from private schools pre-December. It seemed like people posting on here were keen that I would get into a private school.

It's also that I applied to competitive schools but hey I do have competitive stats so we shall see.

So..yes. Because schools have already sent out their acceptance offers on Dec1st, so they know some of their seats are going to fill up immediately. Because of that, there are less seats to compete for, and that's why everyone is so set on having "Pre-Dec 1st" interviews. But as you can see by searching around on the forums, a lot of people were accepted after Dec 1st (like February even), and are currently attending that school. So although yes it is harder to get accepted if your interview is after Dec 1st, as long as you believe in yourself and do your best, you shouldn't worry . Also I think that schools tend to let you know sooner about accepted/rejected if your interview is after Dec 1st. Just my opinion, hope it made senseIs it harder to gain admissions into a dental school if your interview is Dec. 5th vs November 20th! I have my #4 at a private school Dec. 5th so I was just wondering. Feel free to chyme in anyone else!
