Hey, Was wondering if anyone knew of any schools that had master's programs where you would be able to do dental research? I want to complete a master's degree and then go to dental school, but i figured it'd be better to do a master's thesis on dental research so the adcoms know i'm serious about dental school.

any input is greatly appreciated 😍

Unless you don't have strong enough stats, etc to get into shool right now, I think you might be taking the wrong direction. You can do any research while your in Dental School (summers etc). They even look for people that want to come to their school for research and several have large outside grants to support you if you want to do PhD/DDS dual degrees. Take Ohio State, for example. They have a funded dual degree which has been largely successful at paying for your dental school and PhD through outside dollars. So, you get your cake and eat it too. Also, if your thinking about specializing, you end up completing an MS degree anyway and have to do research and a thesis to finish up. So that route would work too. I'm just trying to help you realize that there are plenty of ways to get another advanced degree during your journey through D schhool.

good luck

I would totally go the route of doing research in dental school. but i don't have the credentials so i'm hoping that if adcoms see that i'm doing dental research, that i still have a consistant pattern in pursueing dental school. either way im still gonna do a master's to improve my application. not so hot right now. i have alot of experience and passion, just not the numbers.
