hi- i have many general q's about recidencies and specialization:
1. are recidencies in dentistry necessary and/or required?
2. how do u work towards a preferred dental residency- i mean, is it school administered/hospital? what are the necessary exams
3. does doing a residency in a specialized field mean specializing officially? i really have no idea- are there extra degrees or officializations awarded?...so then what exactly makes a specialist a specialist
4. what is the general nature (work environment, pay, intensity [hours]) of the residencies, if they can be generalized
5. how long?
6. does the student pay? or does the residency pay you? i guess i'm asking here what the diff is between dental residencies and universities' continuing dental education programs? do they count as residency as well? who pays?
7. how do u specialize? general step by step please
as u can tell, i'm just wetting my feet before jumping...please help educate myself. thanks a bunch upperclassmen, the help is sooo appreciated
