So I did a year of research in the lab of the department chair for the specialty I'm applying to, and he has offered to write me a letter. When making a letter request form, they make you specify whether it's a regular letter, or:

"This LoR Author is a Department Chair where I completed my clerkship training. Group departmental letters must be signed by the team composing the letter."

He is the department chair, but this seems to be more for people who get a piecemeal letter after a rotation. Should I just select it as a regular letter, or should I just click department chair and since only his name will appear on it, schools will figure it out?

Thanks for any and all help!

Definitely select 'department chair.' No question.
