I am finishing my first year in Pediatrics at a University hospital and would want to do Pedi Dermatology . I am currently looking for a Dermatology spot PGY 2 starting July 2013.

Why not simply do a pediatric derm fellowship? No need to do a derm residency if you truly just want to do peds derm. I would assume that if you want to do general/adult derm, not just simply peds derm, you would be aware of how competitive it is to get a spot, so you should have applied through the match. Also the next Derm spots would not start until 2014, not 2013, unless something opened up unexpectedly.

peds derm is very difficult without a derm background.
