I'm sort of a little desperate here. I haven't taken Physics II, and I need it before I can start school. I keep trying to find a course that I can take, but I work full-time and I'm not leaving until mid-June. There's just really no way I can take a course during the day before then, but the night courses I'm finding don't have labs. I'm also having a baby, due in early August, which complicates matters even more. (If a class ends on July 31st, for example, that's probably pushing it a little. I could always try, though.)

Assuming I can't convince whatever school I choose to waive this requirement (which I think is a long shot), does anybody have advice? Is there any such thing as an online physics course? I can imagine doing computer-based labs, especially for physics.

I didn't mean to leave this until so late. Somehow time got away from me, and I couldn't find a course to take, and now here I am.

help...please

ya, there are online physics courses. i'm currently taking one... but its at a canadian school, so i don't know how much that will help your life at all. but if you're interested, its at athabasca university, and there is a lab component (they send you this HUGE kit so that you can do ur labs at home)

good luck!
Wow that has to be a huge kit.

Hmm, thanks. I don't know if they'd accept that credit. But at least it's a start -- there is such a thing as online physics! The search is on 😛

Okay this isn't working. I spent the past 40 minutes looking for something, but I can't find. (And I'm actually at work, but I'm just waiting to centrifuge blood so I'm bored. But I'm starting to worry about this physics thing.)

Tigress,

You can take physics lab classes online from the CCAC (Community College of Allegheny County), based in the Pittsburgh area. Their website is www.ccac.edu - I just checked and they are offering online Physics II (PHY-142, 4 credits) right now. I signed up for this class a few years back, but I didn't end up taking it (long story, the professor actually passed away a few days before the class was supposed to begin). Anyway, the lab was done using a software package that this professor had developed. It looks like they got a new professor to teach his classes. I hope that you can find a class that will work for you. 🙂
