Yes,good post. please vote SDNers. :thumbup:

Dropped me by .2!!!!! My school doesn't have A+. I had a lot of B+ and a few C+. I went from a 3.25 to a 3.05 and I couldn't care less.........still got in :D

decreased it by around .07. I had a lot of 3.5's in undergrad, which converted on the aadsas scale to B+'s, which were only counted as 3.33.

I may be wrong but I'm thinking that those of you who's aadsas gpa was lower than your undergrad may have attended a school that gave 3.5's for B+ and other such distributions that are not the norm.

how would your gpa be affected if your school gives out all the numerical grade-points? (4.0, 3.9, 3.8, 3.7....).

two things that affect your gpa:

1) aadsas counts A+ as 4.3, most colleges count them as 4.0 (if they even offer A+)

2) aadsas counts both grades if you retook a course, most colleges overwrite the old grade

so if I get a 3.4 it wouldn't be converted into a 3.333?

Does anybody have any documentation on how to calcluate the AADSAS gpa? Like a spreadsheet or something? Or is this something that is determined by AADSAS? :confused:

So, for my university, if an A- is counted as 3.67 would the aadsas count this as a 4.0? and if a B+ is counted as a 3.33 at my university would this be considered a 3.0 by the aadsas? If so, this would REALLY help me out alot cause I have a decent amount of A-'s :D

and remember... if you retook a course, AADSAS will count both grades even if your university didn't. that's the rub for most people!

Yeah, and thats a bunch of crap.
AADSAS decreased my gpa by over.1, almost .2...but UNLVSDM here i come!!!

If you retook any classes it's going to lower your GPA because it averages your grades...even though it doesn't count in ur undergrad GPA...they take both grades...so if you got a C (2.0) and an A (4.0) after you retake...you will get a B (3.0) on AADSAS.....

what about a cc grades conversion? they dont' give A+,A,B,C or D or E. they give 4.0,3.5,3.0,2.5.......

will the 3.5 become 3.33 ?
and do they count 4.0 as 4.3?

wow, i had no idea that this was how the AADSAS calculated gpa--i haven't applied yet.

IMHO, it is a bunch of crap. My school does not have A+. We have plus/minus for everything else.

it would be fair if they calculated any A as a 4.0, B as a 3.0, C as 2.0, etc. This would even out the playing field between schools, but hey...life isn't fair, right?

i forgot to mention that AADSAS calculates a "without +/-" average as well... every dental school you apply to will receive your "with +/-" averages and your "without +/-" averages. most prefer "with +/-" since it is generally more accurate.

A+ = A = A- = 4.0
AB = 3.5

B+ = B = B- = 3.0
BC = 2.5

C+ = C = C- = 2.0
CD = 1.5

D+ = D = D- = 1.0
DF = 0.5

F = 0.0 = :(

since a lot of people reading this thread appear to be new to the process... i suggest creating a free "dummy" account under the current AADSAS cycle... read the FAQ and prepare yourself for what is required* ...submitting early (may/june) is extremely important!

*subject to change for the next cycle

Just wondering what mark qualifies as AB; BC;and CD?

hey

i went to two different schools, one of which gave an A and A- a 4.0, a B B+ and B- a 3.0, etc
and another that gave an A a 4.0, an A- a 3.7, etc...

How should i go about figuring out my gpa for my application? What grade scale should is going to be used for my grades?

thanks everyone

That's a really good idea. Wish I had thought of that last year. :thumbup:

Is it possible to have a 2.0 GPA and still make it in? I don't believe it but someone in one of these threads claims to have done so...
