Did any of you go through undergrad w/o joining clubs?

I tried to find a club to join, but they all seem like a poor use of time to me. Between class, studying, and research, I'd rather relax.

The only reason I ask is, does pretty much everyone join clubs in undergrad? I know everyone volunteers(almost), so I'm going to do that as well.

I do go to meetings when there's free food though😎

Those of you who did join a club, or are currently in one, what was your rationale besides listing it on an app?

I didn't join any clubs during college. I was too busy working part-time and doing things in the music department and swim team. I don't think not-joining-a-club is that big of a deal. Just find some other things that you enjoy doing and do them well.

I've joined clubs but only because they made it easier to sign up for volunteering activities. I didnt list any of them on my AMCAS, but I did list the volunteering activities.

I didn't join any pre-meddy type clubs in undergrad...thought the time might be spent better doing things I actually enjoy. Also I wasn't pre-med until way later in college...I didn't like being labeled as a "pre-med" without actually seeing for myself if being a doctor was what I really wanted.

Clubs are for socialization purposes. If that's your thing join up. If not, it's no big deal. I'm sure you can find some other route to the same thing.

Nope, no clubs. Too busy working, studying and researching.

I'm heavily involved in clubs, but that's because I like it. If you like it, do it...if you don't, don't. Don't ever do stuff just to put it on the application. That being said, I'm sure that your school has a club that you'd enjoy being a part of, just try looking for it.

I'm involved in a couple (not premed ones), but I didn't put it on the Amcas. Actually, I didn't put a lot of things on there that maybe I should have in retrospect.

No clubs, but I know plenty of pre-meds that are involved with clubs (e.g. Running Club, Tutoring Inner City Kids, Cooking) Just do what you want ... If you want to socialize and just "relax" as you say -- you may want to consider going greek.

I too would only go for the free food😀. I was in quite a few clubs in college but I wasn't involved enough to warrant making a note of it on my application.

Join clubs only if you're interested and no I didn't.
