Did anyone get out of any med school classes?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
UNECOM allows you to test out.

You can test out of Histology at PCOM if you got a B or better in it. The post-bacs from PCOM have to take all the other courses.

I doubt you can test out at CCOM. If you can, no one did.

JonnyG was correct about PCOM...they let you test out of histology if you took it as an undergradn and got a B or better. That is the only class you can test out of, and in the end it is not a really big difference.

What about if you do the post-bacc program at PCOM? Doesn't that program allow you to take a class with the med students? It is those type of classes that I am talking about. If you take a graduate level class with medical students as a post-bacc ... do schools let you transfer that over?

The post bacs at PCOM take similiar classes to the med students but not that same. During the first two trimesters they have somewhat of an advantage but they do not get out of anythign unless they pass the histology place out exam. Example they take a prosected anatomy as a post bac and then take regular anatomy as a med student. They take a "light" version of the basic sciences trimester than have to take the full version as med students.

good to know.

Anyone know of anything other than PCOM? I'm looking to take some classes with med students in a masters program. I know UMDNJ has classes with med students and BU does as well (doesn't drexel and Georgetown too?)

Anyone any insight?

most places let you get out of classes if you've had significant background. we have some MPHs and some PharmDs who don't have to take certain classes. While this may be helpful by opening time in your schedule I'm not sure how helpful it is longterm (i.e. prep for boards). Think about this seriously and perhaps discuss with course director before deciding to "place out" of a class in med school.

Very good advice...epidemiology would be worth testing out of though!
