Did I buy the right EK 101 verbal book?

Hello gurus,

I'm a non trad currently on rotations for school, working 40-80 hours a week, while working weekends and writing my thesis. Awesome (Sarcasm). However, I'm going to be using my spare time to study for the MCAT. I've decided to purchase the EK series, because I need something that is a quick condensed version, opposed to the in depth BR versions. However, there are two versions of the EK verbal 101 books, which one should I be purchasing?

Old version:

My plan is to go through all the EK concept books, supplement chem and physics with chads videos, and do all the AAMC exams. Seemingly, people had great results with using the EK series alone, so hopefully I will too. Thanks for your help everyone.

Either one is fine. From what I understand, the older one has slightly more information (not sure what kind?) than the new one, but the passages are basically the same.

EDIT: I found the information from SN2ed in his schedule thread: "EK 101 Verbal received an update, but it's not worth buying. They took all the old passages and cut out questions to get to the new format."

I just looked at the old version's table of contents and compared it to the new version and here's the breakdown (by the numbers):

The old version has 11 verbal tests, each with 9 passages and 60 questions in addition to a 2 passage "warm up" with 14 questions. This adds up to 101 passages and 674 questions.

The new version has 14 verbal tests, each with 7 passages and 40 questions in addition to a 3 passage "warm up" with 17 questions. This adds up to 101 passages and 577 questions.

So although the new version is in the same format as current verbal tests (7 passages and 40 questions), the old version has more questions. There are pros and cons to each book, but I really think you'll be happy with either.

For what it's worth, I haven't ever looked at the old one, but I recently ordered the newer version and have been doing 2 passages each day. Its great so far.

I don't see how you could go wrong with either of the two.
