Did many schools or AADSAS push back their application deadlines due to COVID? Seems like many are taking or will be taking the DAT

Hi all,

Best wishes.

It occurred to me that there are many people like me who are planning to take the DAT soon or in several weeks and actually apply this cycle for 2021, and I wondered if anything has changed in timing-such as did AADSAS or the cycle start later this season due to COVID19 or have many of the schools extended or pushed out their application deadlines?
Sorry, one has to start somewhere for information gathering and may as well float the "dumb" question.

I'm really curious of people's opinions and experiences. I've been through 3 cycles previously, several interviews, several waitlists and did get the holy grail (class of 2022 at a school- but had to leave suddenly after a few weeks matriculating for a health issue, hence retaking the DAT and reapplying). Typically not having the complete application with DAT by say mid August, meant a possible Spring interview and potentially a waitlist decision at best. But of course, these aren't steadfast, they're just my experiences in my little space of the universe, and one thing you can count on in the process is certain uncertainty. It is interesting if things got somewhat pushed out in general.

Hey! I believe the earliest submission of applications was pushed back 2 weeks and the earliest date of acceptances was pushed back 2 weeks.

There's a lot of applicants that have already applied. You take into account people that are re-applicants and new applicants. I'd really just treat this cycle like any other cycle. If there's anything I'd know, it's people that have a completed application already with a DAT score that have the advantage this cycle.

Also, like someone said above, AADSAS had previously pushed back the first day to submit applications by two weeks and then extended first day of hearing back for an acceptance by two weeks. Also, many schools have already pushed back their submission dates previously. I can see schools individually extending their deadline depending on how many applicants they get, but AADSAS pushing back when we hear of acceptance will not happen as the nationwide dental schools have to work with this whole scheduled process for the next 4 months until decision day.
