AAMC official guide bio passage 1 question 4.

Based on the passage, what can be determined about the inheritance pattern of Gaucher Disease in humans?

A. wrong
B. Only that it is recessive
C. wrong
D. That it is autosomal recessive (correct answer)

I thought recessive & autosomal recessive were the same. How does the term autosomal change things? thanks

It means its not sex-linked recessive. A recessive allele can either be on a sex chromosome or an autosome. In Gaucher's disease, it is on an autosome.

Recessive could imply sex-linked recessive or non sex-linked (autosomal) recessive.
