late reply, i know. =p my advisor (who happens to be the chair of anesthesiology at school) said that he believe i necessary to use a different PS for prelim/transitional programs. a couple of people in the medicine department at my school have told me that it's ok to use your anesthesia PS for prelim/transitional programs, because the programs know that you're not doing medicine and are just looking for a first year position for the knowledge base that you need. i heeded their advice and didn't bother writing a second PS and i've been lucky enough to get some interviews so far (USCF/Fresno prelim, UCI prelim, St. Joseph prelim & trans, St. Francis prelim).
