I just took the DAT today and am really depressed by my scores, especially the Pat..........

AA 18
Pat 14 🙁
Quant 15
Reading 23
Biology 18
Gchem 19
Orgo 18

I don?t know what happened, as I was taking the exam I thought it was pretty easy and felt like I knew my stuff. Then when it came to the Pat section I took too long on the first few sections and wound up leaving questions blank. Same thing with Quant: I knew the subject but I ran out of time.

If anyone has any advice, comments, suggestions or criticism, PLEASE let me know because these scores are really getting me down.

Hey there, Well I had a similiar expereince with math and PAT. Pat was much harder for me than any other section. What is your GPA? I mean DAT is only one of the selection factors. And you always have the option of taking it better. If yo study and be more confident! (this is a big one) you should do better. Try new learning strategies and different approaches. I also
recommend you do full tests in an isolated location. For example a library cubicle, and imagine you are taking the real one, do everything that you'd do on the real one, even the same time. You should improve your strategies this way. For QR i run out of time too, but I knew what I was doing wrong, I was skipping questions that were a little lengthy and then at the end didn't have time to do the. So my suggestion is to study the same problems and gain speed and confidence with them. For example try doing 3 "AGE" problems one after another so that you "catch" the material better.

At any rate I hope this was helpful, Also don't let the scores let you down because it's only a test and it really doesn't measure your knowledge of MAthematics or your science understanding. And in fact It was found through research that the older the individuals get the better 3-d vision and
manipulation of shapes in space, they develop.

GOOD LUCK!

I forgot to include some info...... gpa overall: 3.4, sci gpa 3.0, but I still have a year until i apply so I'm hoping to bring those numbers up........so you're basically saying I should retake? And to think I was so happy to be done with it. 🙄

I think you should think about rretaking the test. Most schools won't accept a score lower than 16. The PAT is especially a concern. You want to get at least a 17. You will have time with another year of school under your belt. Use this year to regroup and study for it next summer.
