I am currently taking a DIY post-bacc course at UCBerkeley extension and am unsure about if I should continue taking classes this summer. I am currently enrolled in a class that started off as in-person instruction, but became virtual due to COVID-19. Today, I got an email saying that instruction will continue to be virtual until August 4th and I am not sure if I should just wait until the fall session so I can take a course in-person or if I should take a class virtually? I am more concerned about this in terms of future applications for medical school, therefore I am trying to see if it would it make a big difference to take an upper division biology class online versus in-person? Many thanks!

There is a difference between taking an in person class that was switched to online delivery due to the pandemic versus an online class. Your case is the former and is perfectly acceptable given the circumstances beyond your control. It is highly unlikely that the course would be noted in your transcript as being an online course. In the event that it listed as an online class in your transcript, admissions committees will not be forgetting the impact the pandemic had on education. As for whether or not you think you would benefit from the class being delivered online and would rather wait for it to be in person that is entirely up to you.
