I am a fourth year at DMU, and I havent heard of it. During your third and fourth year you can apply for a scholarship that pays all of your tuition for those two years if you remain in Iowa and practice in primary care. Other than that, I dont think there is another scholarship with the exception of the military of course.

It's called the Presidential Scholarship and is for first-year students, annually renewable if you meet minimum performance requirements....maybe it's new...
Cool, I unfortunately dont know anything about it. Have you contacted the financial aid office or looked on the dmu website? Good luck in going for it, DMU like most other osteopathic schools are expensive as hell!
When I interviewed, they mentioned it to me. They made it sound like I was being considered for it and would likely get it. I never heard about it again.
However, I don't think I really pursued it and I did not matriculate there despite an acceptance. The cynic in me thinks it may be used as a ploy to get more competitive applicants to matriculate- it probably exists but you should probably decide independent of the scholarship unless they have something in writing. Plus, if the criteria for renewal is nebulous or too challenging, it is only 1 free year...
I think I do remember hearing something about it during my interview but forgot about it and just went with loans. I figure they'll get paid off eventually.....doh.
I know there is one scholarship for a half year of tuition: $14,000 and one for a full year of tuition: $28,000. I hadn't heard about the one that I received: $7,000/yr as long as I keep an 85% and pass the step I on the first sitting. I don't know if this is the $28,000 sholarship or not. If it is, admissions told me there were 4 given out. Hope this helps.
