I'm looking at $400 from Phoenix to Rochester. 🙁 I'm surprised because I got tickets from Phoenix to NYC for about $200. Should I wait and see if the Rochester tickets get cheaper? Is it just that Rochester is more expensive to fly into because its smaller or what? Any advice? Thanks!

Flying to smaller airports can often be more expensive. If you are talking about Rochester, Minnesota, it would be much cheaper to fly into Minneapolis and rent a car and drive -- its less than two hours away. There are also vans that go between MSP and Rochester. Don't fret too much about a $400 plane ticket. I can barely get out of my state for that price. I can't help you if you are trying to get to Rochester, NY.

If you are talking about Rochester, NY, perhaps flying into Buffalo and renting a car is cheaper...

Sat night stay is CRUCIAL!!! I got tickets to there for 140 round trip. (FromBWI in Baltimore)

I am talking about ROCH, NY

Look at flying on Jet Blue from NYC to Rochester. IIRC, right now, it's about $44.00 each way.

I think the closest Jet Blue terminal out west is in Salt Lake City, which is unfortunate for you. However, even if you had to switch to Jet Blue in NYTC, it may still be less expensive.

Sorry all, I should have been more clear - I am talking about Rochester, NY. Thanks for the imput - I will look into Jet Blue - but I am not gonna worry too much about the 400 bucks - hopefully it will have been worth it in the end!

If you are interviewing at the University of Rochester, it is my opinion that it will be worth it. I hope to attend U of R for medical school in the near future, for a couple of reasons.

1. Back in 1970, when I was 4 years old, my Grandfather was admitted to Strong Memorial (the U of R's main hospital) with a dissecting aortic aneurysm. They were able to repair it non-surgically, and subsequently gave him (us) 14 more years with his family.

2. 15 months ago, my son was born at Strong. The great atmosphere for learning on the OB/GYN ward was apparent. The MS's were allowed to fully participate in the delivery, even though it was a difficult delivery. The attending (my wifes regular OB/GYN) was great with my wife, the MS's, and I throughout.

After his birth, my son spent a couple of days in the NICU. I was VERY impressed with the care he received while in the NICU as well.

In the Western New York Region, U of R MS has a great reputation.
