so schools want a deposit in 2 weeks after accepting you. obviously I don't know if I'm going to get in to schools that are higher ranked on my list. so are u guys just sending in the deposit to all the ones ur unsure about? will they all return it if you say no before may 15th or do I have to call each individual school and make sure? I just thought it would be really weird and seem unappreciative of me to call them and ask if they'll return my money if I don't go there. thanks...

come on people, help me out here! anyone care to take a guess... 😉

I'm kind of curious too, but I think I'll start worrying about this more come March.

No. It varies by school. The school at which I have my only acceptance explicitly states in their acceptance letter that the deposit is nonrefundable and indicative of your final decision to attend their school.

thanks...I guess I'll try to look it up for the individual schools.

the only deposit i've had to give so far is nonrefundable (ohio state). total crap, i say.

this information is in the MSAR so I'd check that out.

but its not always correct/current. take ohio state--the most recent MSAR says "no deposit", but its $25, and its non-refundable at that.

The only school that returned my deposit was MSU. Unfortunately, I had never given them a deposit check in the first place, so I had to return the money.

At most places, you can kiss that money goodbye.
