I went to dentalquiz.com and saw there were ACLS questions. As a healthcare provider is this something that is required? I am an EMT right now and can pick this up pretty easily at a low cost. It may even give me an edge for admissions. Just want to make sure it is something we need. What about PALS?

Hysteria,

Dentists only need to be BLS certified, yet ACLS is something that ought to be done. Since you are in the position, I would go for it!

I don't know if it would give you much (if any) of an edge in admissions, but it could easily benefit your future practice if you maintain it.

Dr. Jeff is a successful practitioner in Conn. and posts frequently on SDN. To see how he has used ACLS to his advantage in his dental practice, check out this post on the dental board: Dr. Jeff's ACLS thoughts.
