My friend who's a 4th year med student at USF told me that the female medical students are treated far better than guys (only if they are good looking, though) by male attendings.

Is that true?

Yes, it is true. However, hot chicks with a hot chick 'tude don't go over well with the nurses. Provided I was graded fairly and given LOR when deserved, I could care less what any male attending thought of me (I'm a guy). I'd rather get along well with the nursing staff because they can REALLY make life hell on the wards.

sometimes hot guys have an advantage with female attendings, but i think it's less frequent and less marked then the advantages chicks get with male attendings and love starved male residents.

Just like it's probably true that there are attendings/residents out there who evaluate women medical students based on their looks, and that there are women who use this to their advantage. My point is, you shouldn't assume that the woman in question did well just because of her looks.

However, you have not demonstrated within your post that you have seen rich white boys use their "old-boys network connections" to get ahead. Ass-kissing is the networking equivalent of a grass-roots organization, fool. If you said, "I've seen rich white boys go up to the attending and give them the secret Masonic handshake while slipping them a cool $50 bill" that might make more sense. Stay on the sidelines with the little kids, OK?

I don't know why we're even debating this. It's basic psychology, better looking people get treated better by everyone, attendings included.

IMHO, the effect is significantly more pronounced for good looking females than pretty boys though. In our society guys aren't judge by their looks as much as women are, although that is changing as we become increasingly superficial.

It's not really a debate. We're just professing our disdain for the ho-bags who are taking advantage of their jumblies and using them to get ahead because they are air-heads.

P.S. All guys' attire is pretty much standardized, unlike women's. Some women are dressed like they're about to go out hooking. It would be like if a guy showed up with no tie, his shirt open, and a cucumber stuffed down the front of his pants.

It's absolutely true. Look at derm and allergy. Those are two of the most difficult fields to break into and they happen to be occupied by females......good looking females at that. Sure, many of them have top scores but a lot of them don't and get in through their "interpersonal skills." And these women know how to flirt as well. They allow these male attendings to feel in control and they act so helpless. I'm jealous. I wish there were some single female attendings I could flirt with. Usually female attendings are married and they don't flirt. Sucks I know.

Well, hot chicks ussually feal threatened by other hot chicks, so this will be a cycle. If derm is now dominated by hoties, then the guys should have an easier time for a while.

WRONG! They admit ugly chicks. You're right, they don't want competition from other hot chicks but they don't want nimrod guys gawking at them either unless we look like Brad Pitt and most of us don't. The solution: accept ugly chicks. That way they can feel better about themselves without being harassed by men. Why do you think all hot chicks have a ton of ugly girlfriends. Very rarely do you see hot chicks hang out with other chicks that are as hot as them.

I told her that she shouldn't forget that she is a hot chick and that she will get consideration because of that. She told me to F off but I did tell her to make she looked good on her interviews because it will pay off. Once again, she told me to F off. Whatever!
