I just recently graduated from a SMP and I wanted some input if I still had a chance for any MDs? And if I do, which schools would you recommend?
My stats:
- cGPA: 3.3
- sGPA 3.2
- SMP GPA: 3.8
- MCAT 507 (128/123/128/128)
- Scribe 1800+ hours
- Shadow 120+ hours
- Free Clinic volunteer 300+ hours
- Hospital Volunteer 500+ hours
- ESL teacher abroad for 6 months
- Worked as restaurant cashier/server at undergrad for 800+ hours
- Member of premed fraternity
- CA resident
- ORM
I only applied to my SMP's medical school the past cycle due to the supposed linkage and I was not accepted. I know my MCAT is lacking, however I did not retake it for this cycle as I found out I didn't get in only about a month ago and I wanted to finish strong in my SMP.
If you want an MD, you will need to retake the mCAT and score >513. Your state school might be OK with a 510.
As of right now, you're fine for any DO program.
