Can anyone please tell me whether or not I have a good chance of getting accepted into an Allopathic school in the US based upon my academic and work history if this is what it is:
I graduated with my first BA degree 2 years ago in computer science/engineering with a 3.1GPA. I know this is horrible but please keep reading to find out more! My transcript for comp sci. looks really crappy(4 resigns, 2 semesters of only 2 classes each). The reason being, I had no idea what I wanted to do w/ my life and as a result didn't care about my studies. After graduating 2years ago I worked in industry doing comp. programming and hated it! Back in high school I decided to be premed but once in college I thought I wouldn't be able to do well so I dropped the idea. Now after working in industry comp. programming I decided I want to be a doctor! I went back to school to earn a BA degree in Biology (this is what I'm currently doing). I have 1 more year left. I've been getting straight A's in all my Bio courses and I got 2 A's in Organic Chem. I have 1 more year left for a total of 2.5 years for earning my Bio degree. During this 2.5 years (5 semesters)I'm working part time as well so I've only been taking an average of 13 credits a semester. Knowing that I'll graduate next year with a GPA of 4.0 for my BIO degree and considering that this 4.0 averages in with my 3.1 from Comp. Sci. (all classes taken at same school)to give me a final GPA of 3.35 and a Science GPA of 3.5 ( i got A and A- in physics, and A, B+ in general chem)...DO I HAVE A CHANCE OF GETTING INTO MED SCHOOL, if I get a 31 on MCAT, I've done a year of research in a cell bio lab and got 1 publication, and I just started working as an
EMT and will have 2 years experience as an EMT before an interview (i'm applying to med school at end of senior year to just work full time as EMT for a year). DO I HAVE A CHANCE?? I'm also considering Howard university and Moorehouse and Meharry university (i'm asian-american)but as an EMT serve in a predominantly african-american area that is very low income. Please help!

i don't understand your poll... but sure, it seems you have a good chance

I agree. I think you have a great chance since you have proven through your current studies that you can succeed in an academic setting. Best of luck! 😛
