Hi-
I am a student at UCLA. I am just wondering if anyone knows if medical schools seem to prefer specialized science majors, such as microbiology or neurobiology, over general science majors such as biology. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

chngsr,

From what I understand, medical schools could care less about what you major in. So major in anything you like. Many specialized science majors, such as phy sci, microbio, molecular cell bio and neuroscience are designed for those who want to take many upper-div science courses in one area, while biology major allows you to take a little bit of everything.

As long as you take their minimum requirements for a medical school, they really don't care about your major. Just major in something that you can handle and that you enjoy.

no, they don't care if you are a music major or a neuroscience major. it doesn't matter.
