Do Residency Directors care where you went to Med School? For example, would it matter if you went to a top ten school like Yale or Michigan or if you went to a lower tier school like Drexel? 🙂
However, it isn't the only thing that they consider. Also, class ranking, 3rd year grades, Letter from your dean and from you attendings in some of your rotations, and USMLE Step 1 scores, to name a few.
What is most valued depends on the specialty, and to some extent the location. If you can go to a top 25 school, you theoretically might have more doors open, but you have to do well once you get there as well. If you go to a bottom 25 school, you can still get competitive spots in competitive fields, you just have to make sure you do well in school.
