Do schools know which schools you're waitlisted on?

I hope this question hasn't been asked too many times, but it's something I was never clear on. I do know that they know what acceptances you're holding after 5/15, but do they ever know about the schools that you're waitlisted on?

It depends on the school. My two state schools communicate almost daily to find out whos going where. I would assume schools that share a common applicant pool would communicate some information to eachother.
