Hello, I'm planning to apply to DO schools this cycle but I do not have a DO letter of rec.

I haven't shadowed a primary care DO but I have been working as an ER scribe over the past year and worked with some DO docs. Would it be okay if I get a letter from an ER doc or do DO schools prefer having a letter from a primary care physician?

I'm sure any glowing recommendation from a physician of any specialty (D.O. or M.D. for that matter) is all they seek.

Granted some schools do specify they require LOR from DOs (so make sure you research all your possibly desired schools and their preferences)- I've yet to see a single DO institution stipulate a particular specialty.
