I did two BM yesterday. Both PTs were super anxious about the procedure. One pt Requested her husband to present during the entire procedure. I let him stay but not sure if it is the right thing to do.
The other pt requested his pregnant wife to stay and I said no and let her wait outside.

What would u do in this situation? Retrospectively, I did feel more stressed when the family member was there...

I give the patient and family member the option. It's not like you're doing a bedside thoracotomy or anything. It gets less stressful the more you do it.

I did kick one family member (not spouse/parent) out when she yelled "no way are you putting that big ass needle in her back!".
