DO sounds good in theory to me and I would not mind going to DO school, but I want to make sure that the opportunities are the same for advancement and salary. Any opinions?

Salary is the same accross teh board. As far as advancement goes, I'm not sure what you mean. If you mean residency training and availability of specialties, they are all open to you as DO's can enter either DO or MD residencies. There are DO residencies for almost all of the specialties (or maybe all of them, I know dermatology wasn't available for awhile.) A lot of DO students enter MD residencies, although this can be tough to do if your pursuing something like surgery or another really competitive residency. DO surgery residencies exist so you don't have to go MD if you don't want to. This question has come up alot on this board so if oyu search other posts and the archives, you may find more information.
