How far are you exposed to implants in dental school? Are you allowed to place them or do you just briefly learn about them or somewhere in-between?

You take courses about them. But as far as clinics are concerned, your experience will be limited to the prosthesis and possibly the abutment. I don't think any dental school lets you place implants if they have an OMFS or perio department. Schools w/o specialty departments probably don't let you place the implant either.

I hear newer schools without speciality programs let you place implants. Schools like Roseman.

We take classes and do everything but place the actual implant, I believe.

We treatment plan, take the CBCT if necessary, make the surgical guide, place the restoration, etc. As far as I know, it's a requirement that every student in clinic be assigned an implant case.
