OK this is a good one - do you guys ever dream that you're doctors? (and by dream, I mean while you are asleep)

I do *all* the time - but I never have any more knowledge in my dream than I do in reality so I'm always like making stuff up as I go, or like trying to copy what I've seen other doctors do - usually it's ob/gyn related since that's what I'm into...and sometimes I totally panic in the dreams but other times it's so rewarding and awesome and I don't want to wake up...

Last night I dreamt I had a male patient, who was pregnant....

Did you recently watch that movie with Arnie and Danny? I cant believe I forgot that movie name.....JUNIOR thats it....

i dream about setting up a practice with some of my friends that are in other fields like optometery and dentistry along with different specialities in medicine....

and just having a good time at work....yeah i tend not to remember what we do with patients other than talk to them since i have no medical training whatsoever haha.

How about a dream where I delivered a baby (that in no way resembled me) and when people were looking around for the father, the doctor raised his hand and claimed responsibility???? I didn't even know who it was!

And pregnant men reminds me of the Cosby Show episode when Cliff Huxtable had that hoagie before bed and had the nightmare that he, and all of the men on the show, were pregnant b/c of a volcanic eruption that contaminated the water supply in NY!

There was an episode of the Cosby Show where Cliff, Theo, Elvin, and Martin were pregnant.

Oh my word, I remember that! And then at the end cliff turns arond and says to clare "i love women." stooopid.

Not me but a FRIEND of mine had a dream the other day about me in a white coat... foreshadowing, anyone? I mean, that's GOT to be a good sing, right?

Yeah...I recently had a dream where I was expected to perform heart surgery in a hospital hallway...I was a first week intern and had no idea what to do, but I guess I managed to get through the surgery because I spent the rest of the next day convinced that I should go into CT surgery.
oh...I just remembered that I had a surgery dream last night too...can you tell that I want to be a radiologist when i grow up?

yep, had a nightmare where i was preforming surgery and had no idea what i was doing. not fun.

Funny that I don't think I have any memorable dream of being a doctor...I always dream of weird stuff like being chased by others, becoming a begger or prisoner, transforming into a flying creature....weird stuff.

You know, I've NEVER dreamt that I was a doctor. I always dream that I'm a soldier and I'm fighting and those dreams are extremely realistic. Like last night I dreamt for some reason I was a German soldier in a bunker and we were discussing which was a better pistol:
The Walther or Luger? And I said the luger jams and start demonstrating it. Then we got attacked and the rest of my dream was me looking through a little portal firing off at the people (presumably Americans) attacking. Very realistic.. I could feel the tension in the bolt everytime I reloaded.

You know, I would SOOO love to dress up as a Wermacht for the Halloween if I weren't going to be labeled a Nazi and racist (even though I'm Korean.. oh wait, KOREANS ARE RACIST).

You got to admit, the Germans knew how to dress. Too bad the whole Nazi thing happened.

Awesome call... Didn't he end up giving birth to a big a$$ hoagie? And didn't one of the other guys give birth to a toy sailboat?? My memory is a ridiculous thing-- funny how I remember this episode, which I saw ~12 years ago, but I can't even remember the girl's name lying next to me (just kidding).

Hehehe... No doubt... That was my favorite Cosby episode. Cliff gave birth to a hoagie and orange soda, Martin gave birth to the sailboat, and Theo gave birth to a racecar... don't remember what Elvin gave birth to , but I do remember that they were calling Theo the "unwed one"...

yes!!! that's hilarious-- i forgot about the orange soda. what about lance, was he fathering any foul sandwiches or toys?? he was the best. actually, it wasn't so much him that i liked, but the way his girl said his name. "laaaaaaance. awwww, laaaaance."

Ah yes... cousin Pam's friend Charmaine... I don't think Lance was in that episode though. I miss the Cosby Show... wholesome family fun for everyone. :)

damn, player, you know your cos-G show. impressive. my old-school tv knowledge is centered more on GIJOE... i wish could talk about an episode where one of the male joes got pregnant, but i guess hasbro humor isn't as edgy as bill cosby's. it's a shame, too, because Serpentor did have some child-bearing hips....

LOL to that!!!! I guess that we should stop before Brick beats us down for turning her post into a nostalgic journey down Cosby lane :D

true. sorry brick-layer.

both of my bosses are on vacation so i'm just sitting in my lab being bored, unproductive, and hungry. if my name was rudy i would call up bud and have him come over for some apple juice.

I always wondered what it is that people do here that makes them available to post on this thing all day long - maybe I'll start a new thread.

Thanks for thinking of me in terms of my thread becoming a cosby rerun nostaglia fest. It's not as bad as what it could've turned into.

Brick,

I can start by telling you that I work in front of a computer all day and welcome distractions... so when I get a notice that someone answered in the forum, I'm all over the site like a bun on a hot dog

the cosby show is awesome. so happy it's on nick at nite now, but full house is also on nick at nite, and that just makes me feel old.

I'm no Freudian expert or anything, but I'll give it a shot because I think dream interpretations are pretty straight-forward.

You're obviously very excited about medicine and very confident about your ability to be a doctor, otherwise you'd have been dreaming that you were a med student being thrown out of the OR for reasons you can't remember.

At the same time, you're concerned about being thrust into situations for which you have no knowledge or don't make immediate sense. You panic because you feel that this will reflect badly on you as a doctor.

In a nutshell: It sounds like normal anxiety to me.

Even after the bump has been called out, it's funny how some people respond to the three-year-old question anyway. I think it's fun to see old threads, see what people were talking about years ago. Wondering where some of those people might be.

That's cute. You're so sentimental.

When I posted this I had just recently received my acceptance to med school and I was on cloud 9. Three years later i'm almost done with my second year and it has all been worth it, although I'm a little burnt out at the moment.

Where were you in December 2003?

Wow - thanks for that. What do I owe you?

Wow - if they did watch that episode of Grey's then that's some badass Tivo. Getting shows 3 years before they air.
