does a bulkier group or heavier group go on the equatorial position in a chair confirmation ?

some places say it's the heavier group ? I always thought it was the more bulkier group.

Bulk - they prefer to be equatorial is to avoid interacting with other substituents and the ring if im not mistaken.

Heavier means little......BULKIER is the more important factor. For example, a methyl group weighs less than a heavy bromine atom BUT takes up more volume of space, consequently the methyl group preferentially is placed equatorially. Hope this helps.
