Hello!

I am interested in religion studies, and going to take few of religious studies courses during my undergrad career as self-interest. If I take more, and spend just bit more time, I can have a minor in religious studies. But, I don't know if it's worth it.

I am wondering would minoring in a completely different field than my major med/opt/den impress the admission committee? Do they favor students with a minor?

thanks guys!

I think they could care less if you have a minor. If you want to do it though than have fun.

So true..hahah 👍

No one really cares about minors. If you take the classes, take them for your own personal enrichment, not the minor.

As a side note, I completed a Comparative Religious Studies Minor, and found it very useful when presented with problematic religious ethical dilemmas during my interviews.

Other than that, it was an excellent tangent in my education, and would recommend anyone to find some sort of tangent outside of their 'Major.' 👍

i agree
i have a weird assortment of minors..no one cares..except my dad who helps pay for their collection of weird requirements (ie:travel ARC minor/ giant old english conversion texts ..Brit lit minor)..

They don't even care what your major is.

I'd be careful. Last time Michael Jackson has "fun" with a "minor" he ended up in handcuffs.

It's worth it, but only for the chance that you'll have something interesting to talk about during your interview. That might make you stand out.

I think the answer depends on what your major is. If you have a liberal arts major, whatever it is, then a science minor might help show you are well rounded but a liberal arts one is pretty much insignifcant to adcoms. If you have a science major a liberl arts minor might do the same thing.
Either way, take the minor if yoou will enjoy the classes snd as long as you do not have to overload your shcedule and have your gpa suffer for it. Undergrad is the place to learn about all these cool thinkgs you always wanted to study. I know. I have two majors and a couple of minors 😳 .

I debated a couple ideas for a minor, including math. I ended up settling on a theatre minor because a class like acting really breaks up the monotony of all the lab work and such. Plus it is through the English department, which I like. I'm all about the well-rounded education and the privilege of being the only biochem major and theatre minor that I know of! Minors are all about doing things for your own sake. It never came up in my early assurance interviews. My minor helps me maintain my sanity, and that's all that matters! 😀

hey thanx for the advices, I guess i will have to decide between having light courseload or minor in something that I am interested in.

It's a minor factor in admissions.
