Based on the ADEA Official Guide to Dental Schools... "Limitations on Junior College Work is NONE" for the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry.

You may also want to look at their website since this book is the 41st edition and I believe there's a newer edition out there. Good luck!

Hey Beatnik,

Because AADSAS does not have guidelines, this sort of requirement depends upon the individual school. I know UMKC's limit is 24 hours of community college. I would call the admissions office and ask if I were you.

What if you got an AS degree first at a CC?

the average i've seen is 60 credits, however Marquette won't even look at you if you have CC credits. i'd keep them down if you can, however if you are a non-traditional d-student i think adcoms understand. i guess it doesn't matter even if you are a traditional student.

I've beaten this horse to death, but I had over 60 hours at a CC and no one in TX gave a crap. Marquette appears to be the exception to this rule, and as a result they are excluding people from disadvantaged situations who couldn't afford to go to a 4 year University. Don't worry about how many hours you have, just make sure your grades are good and you DAT is good.

I had 66 hours in a CC and 70 in a 4 year university. I also had a 4.0 GPA from both schools. I was accepted to three schools out of the 7 I applied to. Go figure 🙁 Scored a 22 on that DAT too 🙁🙁🙁

Which goes to show alot more than numbers come into play in the dental school admissions game.
