Hi all,

Does having a COA increase competitiveness for Ophthalmology residency? I am just wondering whether or not I should take this test before I leave my job as an ophthalmology research technician to start school. I am starting DO school this fall and have a strong interest in ophthalmology, and want to make myself as competitive of an applicant as possible.

Thanks.

Doubt it. So is it true that all DO schools and residencies will soon become allopathic? Something I heard but not sure about it. Any insight?

All osteopathic residencies will need to apply for ACGME accreditation. I am not too knowledgeable on the specifics, but this is what I have heard. The end point -- all post-graduate medical education in the U.S. will be held to the same standards.
