Does it hurt to apply early decision to a school I'm set on, but have decent gpa?

My pharmcas gpa will most likely be around 3.0-3.1, compared to my 3.2 college gpa. If I made a decision to enter a school if accepted no matter what, then does applying ED help me? Or will it not affect me at all?

I would apply regular decision, ED is just designed so schools can lock in the top applicants before they have the chance to tour other schools and change their mind.

Apply early just as you would in case of applying ED. The timing matters because you are interviewd with the once who applied ED.

Applying ED doesnt increase you chances of acceptance but just knowing the answer early. If you have a fav school that you want to go regardless then applying ED makes sense, otherwise dont lock yourself with one random school just because you might fear of not getting accepted.
Wish you the best of luck!

You guys are all wrong. Early decision does help a lot if you have a less than stellar gpa because since there is less ppl who apply early and less ppl to compare you lower gpa to, the admission committee is more likely to accept you and be forgiving of your grades. Plus there are way more seats available when u apply early ~150 compare to regular once early is done and ppl start submitting for regular, ~70 or even less. Top applicants are the ones that don't necessarily have to worry about it. Those are the ones that will get in early or regular. If you have a heart set on a school and don't want to waste time applying to other school or you have a lower gpa then do early.

People with low grades will just get deferred to the regular admission cycle. It doesn't matter how many seats are open, the whole point of early admission is so that top applicants accept an offer before touring other schools and chaining their mind. Schools don't want to lose their best applicants. You have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

Well you are right about applying early (thats exactly what I said above too). But if the school is not interested in your stats, theyre not going to accept you just because you applied ED. Applying early and applying ED technically will give you the same results, hence applying ED is silly, its better to just apply early.

That's not true. I know a girl who got a 3.2 gpa and was encouraged to apply early. She got accepted even though the average was 3.5. Students from the pharmacy school im going to also said that if you're gpa is on the lower end, that it's better to apply early decision because you have less competition. It is better to apply early with all the seats available than in February with 60% of the seats taken. Now if ur gpa is very low (say 2.5) then you probably won't get accepted period. Anyway, if you look at the stats for early decision vs regular decision, early always has lower stats. I wonder why?...

You do realize that the schools that are actually competitive don't use rolling admissions right? Do you even know what rolling admissions is? I guess it doesn't matter because you know a girl who got into pharmacy school so your an expert now.

Look I'm not trying to argue with you. I know what rolling admission is, in fact my school that is ranked #9 uses it. I'm not saying I'm some sort of expert. I'm just saying what those from my pharmacy school and pre health office have told me. Maybe it's different depending on the school who knows. You're not wrong in that schools want to lock their top applicants but it's more about the applicant wanting the school than the school wanting the applicant. Ask anyone. If you are a less competitive applicant you are better off applying earlier.

I'm not an expert but at least I'm not the one who used the name "idiot" lol.
