Hi everyone,

I received NSUCOM's application recently and one of the questions asks us to list all the allopathic and osteopathic schools that we are applying to. Does the school have the right to ask this question?

Im applying to both MD (15) and DO (6) schools. Should I list the MD schools at all? Im afraid they might hold it against me that im applying to so many MD schools and yet only 6 DO schools. Look forward to any replies.

They have the right to do what they want, they're a private school.

BTW, I'm origianlly from Northern Virginia... went to Chatnilly High School...

Q, DO

I applied to 11 MD and 9 DO schools and wrote only enough that would fit into the spaces...if I remember correctly it was like 10 schools in each space-slot. They wont hold it against you...but they WILL ask you why. Just understand why you did it..and its really not that hard to answer after that. They just wanna see what your main motivation for going into medicine is...and especially osteopathic medicine.

dont worry about that...you'll be fine.

good luck,

Mani

I put in as many schools as would fit and then left it at that (I applied to a lot more). I still received an interview and acceptance. Like Cash said, just be able to explain why, and you will have no problems. Some schools didn't ask anything about it and some allopathic schools asked why I applied osteopathic. It is really just up to the school I think. I don't believe anyone looked too badly upon it.

Hi,

I applied to 19 allopathic and 7 osteopathic schools. Since Nova asked us to list all, I put some schools down in the allotted spaces and added another sheet of paper containing the rest of the schools.

The admissions committee knows that most people apply to many schools to increase the chances of an acceptance. I was never asked at my interview why I applied to so many schools, and I got in 3 weeks later. Don't worry about it, the majority of applicants are in your shoes!

Thanx everyone for your replies. I was kindy shaky on answering that question. I didnt want to lie but at the same time I didnt want someone to look at my application and be like "15 MD and only 6 DO schools, its obvious where this kid wants to go."

Q, thanx for the info on the NSU. Its definetly my #1 DO school for a million and one reasons. Good to see that VA residents are representing on SDN. Take care!
