I'm an IMG who finished medical school in Europe. You take classes for 6 years but can take the exams whenever you want. Many people finish the 6 years of classes and then take a 1-2 years to finish up all their exams. No special permission is needed for this it's just the way things work (maybe somebody from Europe can explain it better than me). Would this count as having your medical education extended?

If you could have taken your exams after the 6 years, then yes you took an extension. Perhaps "many" people take such an extension, but perhaps "many" do not.
