My parents are trying to convince me to attend med school in state. They seem to think that if I don't go to a local med school that I won't be able to get into a practice anywhere around here after I finish my residency. I'm trying to convince them that my alma mater won't matter as much as other factors (ie, where I do my residency, what I score on the USMLE's, etc.) because I favor a particular out of state private school. The truth is, though, that I don't know for sure how much of a role networking plays when trying to join a practice. If you've got some incite I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Richard
